We chose the standard layout to make the transition to split keyboards easier for most users. While alternative layouts have their advantages, they can also be harder to get used to. Our goal is to help more people enjoy the ergonomic benefits of a split keyboard without disrupting their everyday typing habits.

From an ergonomic perspective, staggered column layouts do reduce lateral finger movement. But most users’ discomfort comes from wrists, shoulders, and thumbs – all of which are already addressed by the standard split layout.

As for the Alice layout, after consulting kinesiotherapists and physiotherapists, we concluded that it doesn’t offer any clear ergonomic advantage.

We may offer other layouts in future models for those who prefer alternatives.
